Developmental editing is a constructive and critical look at your work. It’s the kind of editing that academic or professional writers might offer one another.
What does developmental editing look like?
In practice, it’s a kind of dialogue where the editor reads read your work and then tells you what she notices.
From broad ideas (what are your characters like and how are those qualities expressed?) to little details (how do the sound and order of words affect the way your story is read?), we’ll discover together what's wonderful about your work, and which edits will make it even better. There will be conversation and interaction throughout this process as we examine your work together.
You’ll come out the other side with a work that is completely distilled—conveying your message in its clearest, most perfect form!

600-1000 words: $150 - $250
1000-1600 words: $250 - $325
1600+ words: Starting at $325
Extra Meeting: $100/hour

This is the full-service edit. I’ll take a very thorough look at your work and offer constructive and critical feedback—you’ll receive your document back, but sprinkled with comments, questions, and suggestions that will help your story shine. Includes a 1 hour consultation where you can ask questions to integrate feedback.
