Tricky Business
It's tricky business.
Illusions grip the mind,
perpetuated by generations of falsehoods,
pumped by unconscious fear.
He stares me down
as he dances nearby.
My heart quickens,
knowing what's to come.
His antics stir up the shadows,
flip them around and around,
hair-raising chaos,
tornados of destruction,
the only thing that breaks through the shroud.
The barrier is breeched.
The smoke settles.
A new kind of day arises.
I rest in the ashes.
Work done, he trots away,
glancing over his shoulder,
with eyes that say,
"Until next time."

Harmonious Opposition
I started this doodle in a meeting. I had no intention for it other than to keep myself engaged in the meeting! As I reflect on it today, though, I see a play between straight, jagged lines and curvy, flowy lines. There is also a play between black and white and a variety of colors. It makes me think about holding the tension between things that seem like opposing forces or opposites in some way. When both held, they can create something very dynamic and energetic together! I think about this concept in relationships often as well as inside my own world.
