My Vision as a Writer/Editor/Photographer: As a writer and editor, my goal is to tell stories with clarity and energy. I love working with other inspired people who need a collaborator to help breathe life into the truth of their work.
My Vision as a Mentor: There are two things that help me get into my flow: community and communication. Sharing physical, temporal, or mental space (or even goals!) with another person helps me stay accountable, and critical questions often help me shine light into my blind spots. As an artist-mentor, I want to help others by giving them the community and communication they need, too.
My Creative Dream: I want to explore various media and modes of expression with a sense of inquisitiveness and wonder to create work that challenges preconceptions and pushes the boundaries of established categories, drawing myself and others closer to the multifarious and interconnected nature of all things.
Ultimately I want this work to serve others: to use my skills to make this a more inhabitable world for everyone—holistically, considering the impact and echo of every choice or action. My creativity helps me to make sense of my experience, probing further into the depths of curiosity.
My Background: I have a degree in creative writing from Naropa University. I am a self-taught photographer and have been looking at the world through many lenses for the last 12 years. In the last year, I have worked on two large-scale educational writing projects for the Dubuque County Conservation board. I have had poems and photographs in various publications and managed and edited an LGBTQIA+ zine for a year. I just completed my first Studio Light Apprenticeship and I am excited to continue to be a part of this vibrant community!
Fun Stuff About Me: I love playing outside, I love snacks, I love learning, and you can find me at most times with my toes in the mud and my nose in a flower.
